JUDGES

Recognizing and Rewarding Our Socially Conscious Youth.

When selecting the final shortlist of entries, our judging panel is looking for the person (or teams) who are a fantastic example of great social workers; somebody who can become a role model for the profession and really champion excellent social work practice.

As the Social Worker of the Year Awards continue to grow, the level of competition is increasing and our judges have developed the following top tips to help nominees complete their entry forms.

FOLLOWING THESE TOP TIPS CAN MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE:

#1  Start off with a short summary of the nominee and their line of work. Explain why they are being nominated.

#2  Write concisely and accessibly.

#3  Submissions must offer clear evidence of impact.

#4  Bring out the personality of the nominee.

#5  Include two or three examples of excellent best practice.

#6  Show evidence of creativity and innovation.
#7  Include feedback from a supervisor about the quality of the nominee and their work.

#8  Remember to explain the unique contribution the nominee has made to people who use social work services, their colleagues, team and organisation and the profession as a whole.

#9  Include a range of evidence and feedback from people who use social work services, colleagues and partners from other professional agencies.

#10  In management categories, give examples of the nominee’s approach to supervision and their mentoring of newly qualified staff.
